Showing

There is a long tradition of showing horses in the UK, in which the best-bred and best-presented horses and ponies are judged against each other at specific competitions across the country.

Showing horses is an activity that any horse, pony and individual can get involved in.  Some classes require you to ride the horse or pony (ridden classes), while others require you to lead the horse or pony (in-hand).  

There are classes for all types and ages of horses and ponie,s especially at the lower, more local, levels. There are also many breed-specific classes, some of which are linked to the relevant breed and showing societies. Showing takes place at all levels, from local to county right to National Championships at events such as the Royal Windsor Horse Show.  

The Showing Council is the governing body in the UK and represents an amalgamation of key showing bodies.
