British Equestrian launches tender invitation for advocacy partner to champion social value of riding schools and equestrian facilities

Monday, 19 January 2026

British Equestrian (BEF) is seeking a dedicated partner to take our social value findings into the next crucial advocacy phase, aimed at protecting and sustaining riding schools and equestrian facilities across the UK.

Our groundbreaking social value research, launched in October 2025, demonstrated the annual value of equestrian activity in the UK is £1.2 billion, highlighting the significant personal and societal health and wellbeing benefits equestrian pursuits deliver. It’s now time to use the key findings to create meaningful impact in our industry.

The forthcoming phase focuses on transforming this robust evidence base into tangible policy influence and meaningful change.

We’re looking for an individual or organisation to collaborate closely with the BEF, our member bodies and relevant stakeholders to:

  • consolidate existing research into high-quality policy-relevant insights
  • formulate clear, actionable policy asks for national and local level
  • identify investment opportunities and alignment with existing public policy priorities
  • horizon scan to ensure we stay relevant for future government changes
  • produce an actionable policy and advocacy framework, including a stakeholder and lobbying roadmap.

The contract is expected to commence in February 2026 and conclude by May 2026.

Abigail Bevan, Insights and Research Manager at British Equestrian, who has been involved in the social value project since its inception, commented, "This research has demonstrated the incredible benefits equestrianism can provide for everyone. The next phase is vital to ensure these benefits are recognised and supported through effective policy, securing a sustainable future for riding schools and equestrian facilities across the UK."

The BEF invites experienced individuals and organisations with a passion for advocacy and a strong track record in policy influence to submit their proposals. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the sustainability and future growth of equestrian facilities, safeguarding their vital role in community health and wellbeing.

The project will be managed for the BEF by Abbie Bevan, the Research and Insight Manager. Please direct any enquiries and questions on this tender and process to Abbie, whose contact details are: abigail.bevan@bef.co.uk

The deadline for proposal submissions is 13 February 2026.
