Wednesday, 29 September 2021

British Equestrian is opening applications for its National Para Equestrian Classifier course, which will run for two days from 6–7 November 2021.

Open to qualified physiotherapists and medical practitioners, the course is designed to build on your knowledge and experience, and show you how to apply them to the equestrian classification process in both a practical and theory-based manner. At its conclusion, you’ll have all the necessary skills to become a national para equestrian classifier.

Core activities include:

  • Conducting athlete interviews, including diagnosis, eligibility and consent
  • Carrying out physical assessments and deciding on appropriate assessment scales for the impairment described
  • Scoring the assessment and accurately adding the scores
  • Deciding and recording the profile and grade, appropriately aligning the graphic description and scores to determine the profile and grade
  • Putting your learning into action through working with other physiotherapists, as well as volunteer riders.

The course will be held at the British Equestrian offices near Kenilworth and there is a cost of £250 per delegate, which includes course materials and lunch.

The deadline for applications is 7 October. The application form, and a further details about the course and qualification, can be found below.
