BE Prepared: A new way to learn, connect and grow with British Eventing

Tuesday, 31 March 2026

BE Prepared is British Eventing's exciting new learning and development campaign designed to support riders at BE100 level and below. Open to both members and non-members, BE Prepared is free and delivered through British Eventing’s Training Foundation – the BETF – a foundation dedicated to supporting education, development and best practice across the sport.

The aim of BE Prepared is to help riders feel more confident, capable and connected, whether they’re interested in trying eventing for the first time, aiming for a championship or returning to the sport after a break.

BE Prepared brings together a brand-new online learning hub, expert-led two-day training camps, and a supportive network of accredited BE coaches and professionals, all built around one shared goal: creating a stronger, safer and more inclusive eventing community.

A joined-up approach to learning and preparation

At the heart of BE Prepared is the idea that learning should be accessible, practical and enjoyable, and it should support both horse and rider wellbeing alongside performance.

The programme is delivered through two key elements:

The BE Prepared Learning Hub

A new digital platform with bite-sized videos, articles and checklists that will be added to throughout the season, designed to make eventing knowledge clear and easy to apply. Riders can explore topics such as event preparation, horse centric practice, rider fitness, mindset, rules and competition know-how, learning anytime, anywhere, whether they’re at the yard, at an event or at home.

BE Prepared Camps

BE Prepared two-day stay-away camps are hosted by BE accredited coaches at excellent venues across the country. They combine mounted coaching in dressage, showjumping and cross-country with practical workshops, expert demonstrations and Q&A sessions covering nutrition, saddle fitting, rider psychology, fitness and horse wellbeing. Open to both members and non-members, the camps offer a friendly, supportive environment where riders can learn, connect and enjoy the sense of community that makes eventing so special.

Together, the hub and camps create a joined-up learning experience allowing riders to build knowledge online, put it into practice in person, and continue developing skills long after the camp ends.

What riders can expect to learn

BE Prepared is structured around three learning pillars:

  • BE Skilled — technical eventing knowledge across all three phases, plus rules and equipment guides
  • BE Partners — understanding how horses learn and what they need to thrive at home, in training and in competition
  • BE Ready — rider fitness, mindset, resilience and wellness

This framework helps riders focus on the right things at the right time, building confidence step-by-step and supporting sustainable progression.

BE Prepared Camps

The below camp is currently scheduled:

  • The National Training Centre, Hothorpe Farm, Leics, 27-28 June 2026

Each camp is led by experienced accredited British Eventing coaches and supported by specialist contributors, offering two packed days of learning, training and connection. Find full camp details and book here: Find a Camp

Why BE Prepared matters

With over 70% of members telling us they want more access to online training and support – especially around cross-country and preparation – BE Prepared was created to meet that need. We also want to make our sport more accessible to riders who have always dreamed of trying eventing but haven’t yet taken the next step. BE Prepared provides the support and confidence they need to give it a go!

British Eventing CEO Rosie Williams said: “BE Prepared is about helping everyone feel part of the sport, no matter where they’re starting from. It’s designed to be inclusive, supportive and fun, building confidence and connection between riders, horses and the wider eventing community.”

By combining education, accessibility and community, BE Prepared supports good horse wellbeing, more informed decision-making, and the long-term sustainability of eventing.
