Thursday, 21 September 2023

On Friday 15 September, British Equestrian (BEF) hosted its induction session for the new cohort of Level 4 Coaching Certificate (endorsed by UKCC), in conjunction with British Rowing and the University of Gloucestershire.

Eight coaches from a variety of backgrounds and experience within the equestrian industry attended the online session hosted by Course Director, Nicky Fuller. They went through an overview of the programme, which includes contact days at the university and valuable field visits. The session was also a chance for coaches to get to know each other before their first day at the university.

The coaches will embark on a two-year programme involving a syllabus of professional academic education, that focuses on advanced coaching skills and the holistic development of the coach/ participant relationship.

British Dressage and British Eventing coach Melanie Tomlinson said, “I’m very much looking forward to exploring learning and teaching theories further with the level 4 qualification and applying them to my freelance participants.”

British Eventing Youth coach Sarah Gairdner said, “I am looking forward to working with a group of like-minded coaches and gaining a better understanding of the background of why we do what we do. I am also keen to gain a broader knowledge from other sports and education techniques for self-improvement and to enhance my coaching skills.”

British Dressage coach Amy Blout said, “I am very much looking forward to continuing to learn about myself as a coach through the Level 4 and from other coaches too.”

Dave Padgen, Relationships Officer at BEF said, “I am delighted to welcome this year’s cohort to the programme. They’re a very strong group of coaches and I’m excited to see them grow and develop over the next two years of learning.”
