Horse Trials Support Group continues support for eventers on British Equestrian’s World Class Programme

Tuesday, 09 April 2024

The Horse Trials Support Group (HTSG) Committee has announced that they will continue their support of eventing athletes on British Equestrian’s National Lottery-funded World Class Programme, with a donation of £10,000 to aid their preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The donation will go towards Let’s Make a Difference, which was established in 2020 to benefit eventing athletes aiming for senior championship selection, in order to enhance the training of those horses and riders vying to be amongst the selected combinations that will head to Paris as part of Team GB in July.

“I’d like to personally thank the Horse Trials Support Group Committee for their continued support,” said Technical Director and Eventing Performance Manager Richard Waygood. “As has been our strategy in previous years, this money will go towards bringing in world-renowned coaches from across the disciplines for our squad training camps.

“An Olympic Games is the pinnacle of our sport and therefore our athletes need to be performing at their very best. No stone can be left unturned in their preparations, which is why it’s so important to supplement the expertise of our World Class Programme coaches with fresh insight from top-class guest coaches.”

The Horse Trials Support Group has a well-established partnership with British eventing squads, having been established in 1978 with the specific aims of the aiding and funding training and development of talented riders for Britain's three-day event teams. This latest donation affirms this relationship and is made possible thanks to the generosity of the HTSG members.
