Your essential guide to The London International Horse Show 2025

Wednesday, 10 December 2025

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – which, for many of us, means it’s almost time for the London International Horse Show. The event, which this year runs from Thursday 18 December to Monday 22 December at the London ExCel exhibition centre, is the British equestrian industry’s favourite way to celebrate the festive season and attracts some of the biggest sporting names from around the world.

We’ve rounded up everything you need to know about what’s happening, whether you’re visiting the show or watching from the comfort of your sofa.

Who’s competing?

The London International Horse Show always attracts the very best of the best from the worlds of jumping, dressage and driving. Here are some of the big British names to watch out for…

Jumping

British showjumping’s best and brightest love to spend the run-up to Christmas in the halls of the Excel, and this year is no exception. The full squad from this summer’s FEI Jumping European championship – Scott Brash, Ben Maher, Jessica Mendoza, Matt Sampson and Donald Whitaker – will make an appearance, all with their eyes on success in the FEI Jumping World Cup qualifier on Sunday afternoon. They’ll be joined by a further three Whitakers (Jack, John and Robert), the ever-popular Joe Stockdale and rising star Adrian Whiteway, plus Tim Gredley and Oliver Fletcher. It’s not just the Brits who are out in force, though – some huge international stars also feature in the line-up, including Austria’s Max Kühner, Gregory Wathelet and Jos Verloy of Belgium, France’s Julien Epaillard, the ever-green Marcus Ehning of Germany, Ireland’s Cian O’Connor and Dutch rising star Sanne Thijssen.

The International Power Jumpers line-up showcases some of the best big-jumping talent from Great Britian and Ireland, including Nathan Bull, young gun Rachel Proudley, Joseph Trunkfield and eventer-showjumper Gemma Stevens.

Dressage

In the dressage arena, British team silver medallists from this summer’s FEI Dressage European Championship will be battling it out for top honours in the form of Lottie Fry with Glamourdale and Becky Moody with Jagerbomb. They’ll be joined by compatriots Charlotte Dujardin (Alive and Kicking), Sadie Smith (Swanmore Dantina) and Susan Pape (Harmony’s Giulilanta). A further 10 combinations will join them from across Europe, including strong competition from Norway’s Isabel Freese (Total Hope OLD) and France’s Morgan Barbançon (Sir Donnerhall II OLD). Buoyed by the gold medal success of Justin Verboomen and Zonik Plus at the Europeans, the Belgian pair of Isabel Cool (Herr Charmeur Coolhorses) and Jorinde Verwimp (Charmer) will also be hungry for top placings.

Driving

British will once again be represented by the brilliant Daniel Naprous, who divides his time between competitive driving and working as a stunt horse rider and trainer in the film industry. He’ll face stiff competition from six other drivers and their teams, including Australia’s Boyd Exell, who has so far dominated the FEI Driving World Cup series this season.
