Dr Rachel Murray had more than 35 years experience as an equine veterinary surgeon, with a particular interest in advanced imaging, sport horse injuries, performance and rehabilitation, leading extensive research and publications into sport horse performance and injury. Her clinical work has been based at Newmarket since 1997, at the Animal Health Trust and then at Rossdales Diagnostic Centre, where she is involved in imaging, lameness and performance evaluation, and rehabilitation.
Rachel has been working with the World Class Programme in a variety of roles since 2009, including as a member of the Equine Scientific Advisory Group, as a Team Vet, as a pre-Championship final assessor and as a Programme Vet for Podium Potential Pathway in all four disciplines. She has been integrally involved in the maintenance, preparation and final evaluations of numerous team horses for multiple championships and Olympic Games, and has attended various Championships and Olympics. She is an FEI Official Veterinarian. As well as advising British Equestrian member bodies, she undertakes advisory work for the FEI, including as an external expert on the Equipment Advisory Group, British Veterinary Association, International Dressage Riders Club, Trainers Club and Officials Club, and various welfare organisations.
