William Fox-Pitt

Rider Profile

Name:
William Fox-Pitt
DOB:
January 1969
Location:
Dorset

With a background steeped in equestrian heritage, William Fox-Pitt’s choice of career was almost inevitable. A previous winner of the HSBC FEI Classics in 2008, 2010 and 2014, he is the only rider to have won five of the six CCI4* (now 5*) three-day events worldwide. William has been British number one multiple times and was the first British rider to become the World number one in eventing – a distinction he achieved in 2002, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015.

After a fall at Mondial du Lion Young Horse World Championships in France at the end of the 2015 season, William bounced back onto the international competition circuit in time to be selected for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

In 2019, William was made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to Equestrian.
