Jamie began riding at the age of 14, and from that moment it became his new obsession. Previously, he'd had played a lot of sport, but found horse riding to be a completely different challenge – from that moment on, it was all he wanted to do.
Jamie grew up riding in all disciplines – dressage, cross-country, showjumping, showing and working hunter. He started to specialise in showjumping when he turned 21, and moved to Di Lampard’s yard to ride and groom full-time.
In the last 15 years, Jamie has trained with some of the best riders in the world, including Janne Friederike Meyer, John Whitaker, Marco Kutscher and Ludger Beerbaum.
On the rare occasion when he's not riding or competing, Jamie enjoys spending time with my wife, Averil, and my daughter, Matilda. Averil and Jamie set up their yard, Gornall Equestrian, together in 2015.
