Matilda Lanni

Rider Profile

Matilda Lanni

Matilda lives at home with her parents and two younger sisters at Halefield Stud, where they run an equestrian coaching and competition yard.

She's currently studying at school, and has to fit her riding around her studies and school sports. Matilda really enjoys hockey and tennis, and play for her school teams. She was lucky enough to be part of the school tennis team that went on tour to Barcelona, and was selected to go on the school hockey tour to South Africa in 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys watching the TV series 'Merlin' with her sisters, eating katsu curry or Snapchatting on her phone.

Matilda started her riding career in the Pony Club, then joined the working hunter pony circuit. Her grandfather found her a 13hh WHP pony called Bella, who Matilda rode for four years. They had numerous wins, including Royal International and Horse Of The Year Show.

In early 2017, Matilda was given the opportunity to ride Newbridge's Master Brown by Stacy Webb and Andy Brown of Newbridge Sport Horses. They went through the Children on Horses trial system, and were selected to represent Great Britain at the Nations Cup Shows at Sentower Park and Weirden. Following their second place finish in the Grand Prix at Sentower and their clear and four in the Nations Cup at Weirden, they were selected to represent Great Britain at the European COH Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, where the team won gold on a score of 0.

In 2018, Matilda moved up to Juniors with Newbridges Master Brown and was selected to jump at the Nations Cup in Lampretchausen, Austria, where she jumped for four and clear to help secure a win in the Nations Cup. Her highlight of 2018 was being part of the Junior team that won the Junior Nations Cup Final in Sentower Park.
