Early Equestrian Experiences

I’ve been riding since the age of three, with some of my earliest memories being picked up by my mum on horseback at a bridge in our village, riding home perched on the pommel of her saddle. I was an active member of the South and West Wilts Pony Club and was always drawn to fast-paced riding. Dressage wasn’t my first love – I initially saw it as something boys didn’t do – but I began taking dressage lessons to improve my showjumping (thanks to a bit of a push from my mum) and I quickly became hooked.

Youth Teams

I feel incredibly fortunate to have represented Great Britain across every age category, from ponies through to senior Grand Prix. I was the first reserve for the gold medal-winning Pony team in 2016 and had the honour of competing for GB at the Under-25 European Championships in Austria in 2024.

Key Moments

Some standout moments in my dressage career include winning my first CDI in 2016 with my pony Val, and producing my current international horse Jacob from prelim all the way to Grand Prix. A special memory is winning my first four-year-old class at Chard Premier League on a horse I backed myself. The moment I am most proud of is when Jacob and I were ranked 1st in the world at small tour level.

Home Life

I’m currently based at home in Wiltshire, having recently returned from a year in the Netherlands training with Finnish Olympic rider Joanna Robinson. Our yard has a wide range of horses because we breed our own and my long-term goal is to compete internationally at Grand Prix level on a horse we’ve bred. I mainly train with Peter Storr, Carl Hester and Adam Kemp, though I believe in learning from everyone. One of my favourite parts of attending shows is exchanging ideas with other riders about training methods and exercises to keep improving.

Equestrian Ambitions

My ultimate dream is to be part of a gold medal-winning Olympic team. In the nearer future, I’m aiming to represent GB at a senior Nations Cup within the next two years, while continuing to develop and compete my string of horses up to small tour level for Great Britain.

Being on the World Class Programme

I was first part of the World Class Programme in 2018 and was amazed by the breadth of knowledge I gained – from farriery to saddlery and, of course, top-tier training. This time, I’m especially looking forward to working with Charlie Hutton as a mentor and gaining further support in managing the business side of the sport while focusing on producing and competing my horses.

Anything Else

Since leaving university, horses have been my whole life. I hold a BSc from Bristol University, and when I’m not riding or working with the horses, my favourite thing to do is travel the world attending music festivals with my friends. Day to day, I love catching a sunrise or sunset with my girlfriend Mollie and our dog, Hugo.
