Rider Profile

Name:
Heidi Coy
Location:
Leicestershire

Having grown up on a dairy farm with lots of horses, I have always been keen from a very early age. My mum even had my first pony ready for me before I was even born! Before branching off into the eventing world, I was in the showing ring doing Working Hunter Pony classes. This included a win at the Royal International and qualifying for Horse of the Year Show. I was also an active member of the Belvoir Hunt Pony Club and started doing some Pony Club one-day events, which led to joining British Eventing in 2013.

My favourite phase of eventing is definitely the cross-country because there is no other thrill like it. Over the years I have started to enjoy the dressage more and have realised the importance of this phase.

As everyone knows finding spare time with horses is very rare, so when I get the chance to relax, I love socialising with my friends and baking cakes.

My biggest achievement from riding is winning an individual and team silver medal at the Junior European Championship in Fontainebleau. This was extra special because it was on a horse I have produced myself from a five-year-old. In 2018, I finished in the top 10 in 36 out of 42 events with all my different horses ranging from CCI3* to 4yo classes. In 2019, I finished fourth, fifth and sixth at Houghton in the Young Rider Championships and was then long-listed for the Young Europeans.
